Issue 13/2026 — I.D.P. Foundation and RLPD Join Forces to Elevate Standards at Public Dispute Mediation Centers

April 24, 2026

The Institute for Education and Development of Conflict Management by Peaceful Means Foundation (I.D.P.), led by President Mrs. Prakairatana Thontiravong and Dr. Suthada Mekavongsakul, convened a strategic consultative meeting with representatives from the Dispute Resolution Promotion Division under the Ministry of Justice’s Rights and Liberties Protection Department (RLPD). The session was held at Riverine Place in Nonthaburi Province from 09.30 – 12.00.

The meeting was organized to jointly chart the strategic direction and establish rigorous operational standards for mediators stationed at public dispute mediation centers. Key topics on the agenda included:

  • Standardizing Opening Statements: The committee integrated the I.D.P. Foundation’s five-step mediation framework as a core guideline. This initiative ensures that public mediators can conduct opening sessions accurately and in full compliance with the principles outlined in the Dispute Mediation Act, B.E. 2562 (2019).
  • Legalizing Settlement Agreements: Participants deliberated on the protocol for drafting dispute settlement agreements by public mediators. Ensuring these documents are legally sound will allow the Rights and Liberties Protection Department to officially endorse them, ultimately enabling the courts to issue enforcement orders.
  • Adapting Singapore’s CMC Model: The forum also highlighted key takeaways from a recent study visit to the Community Mediation Centre (CMC) in Singapore. These international insights will be adapted for designing mediation spaces and drafting standardized operational documents for center mediators to utilize in their ongoing practice.

This collaborative effort represents a major milestone for the I.D.P. Foundation in its mission to standardize the public dispute mediation process, ensuring it remains a highly effective, accessible, and dependable pillar of justice for society.
