Driving Transformative Change for Peace

Empowering a Peaceful Society Through the Strength of Mediation

The Institute for Education and Development of Conflict Management by Peaceful Means Foundation (I.D.P.) was established in 2011 by Dr. Banphot Thontiravong, Mrs. Prakairatana Thontiravong and a group of dedicated volunteers with a shared vision of promoting peace within Thai society. Driven by a steadfast belief in fostering harmony and reconciliation, the foundation has been pursuing its mission and demonstrating impactful results for over a decade.

In recent years, there has been a growing recognition and adoption of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes, particularly pre-litigation mediation, as a preferable means to resolve disputes compared to traditional litigation. This trend aligns with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2560 (2017), which incorporates conflict management mechanisms aimed at fostering national unity and reconciliation to ensure societal peace. Furthermore, various legislative instruments, such as the Mediation Act B.E. 2562 (2019), have provided a legal framework and mechanisms to promote ADR across multiple sectors. These developments have significantly enhanced public awareness and the adoption of mediation as an effective tool for dispute resolution in a wide range of contexts.
